Gas detection training teaches employees to work safely with portable gas detection equipment. During the course, participants learn how gas detectors work, what hazards different gases present, and how to respond safely to an alarm.
Depending on the training program you choose, topics can include: how portable gas detectors work, recognizing and interpreting gas alarms, correctly wearing and using gas detection equipment, performing a bump test, measuring before and during work, working safely in confined spaces, and hands-on practice with gas detection equipment.
Every training course is tailored to the tasks, risks, and equipment used within your organization.
Gas detection training is designed for anyone who uses portable gas detection equipment as part of their job, or who is responsible for employee safety.
Our training courses are followed by employees from industries including: petrochemicals, chemical manufacturing, oil and gas, water utilities, waste management, energy companies, municipalities, contractors, fire departments, police, ambulance services, offshore, food production, and pharmaceuticals.
Supervisors, safety officers, and technical staff also regularly take a gas detection training course to ensure safe use of gas detection equipment across their organization.
Yes. Almost every organization works with different processes, risks, and gases, which is why our gas detection training courses can be fully tailored to your work situation.
A custom training program takes into account factors including: the gas detection equipment your company uses, the gases you work with, the tasks your employees perform, your safety procedures, and the industry you operate in.
Training can take place at our facility or on-site at your location, so employees can practice directly with the equipment and work environment they use every day.
Yes. Our basic gas detection training course covers checking gas detection equipment and the importance of correct operation, including how to perform a bump test.
Want to learn how to independently calibrate and maintain gas detectors? We offer a separate calibration training course for this. During this program, participants learn: when calibration is needed, how to carry out a calibration, working safely with calibration gas, using docking stations, and recording calibrations and certification.
We offer training for every brand and every product. Alongside calibration using docking stations, we also teach manual calibration methods.
You don’t have to make that choice on your own. The right gas detection training depends on the tasks performed, the gas detection equipment used, and the risks within your organization. Based on this, we recommend a suitable course or put together a custom training program that fully matches your situation.
When choosing a training course, we look at factors including: the experience level of participants, the industry you work in, the gases involved, whether employees work in confined spaces, whether calibration and maintenance knowledge is needed, and the gas detection equipment used.

Training modules
1
User instruction at device level
A gas detector is only truly effective when its users understand how to operate it correctly. In practice, there is often no time to read through long manuals or to get new employees up to speed on the equipment on their own.
Maximum 10 participants
At your location or at one of our own training locations (Capelle aan den IJssel, the Netherlands or Hoogstraten, Belgium)
Certificate included
Prior knowledge and experience
Basic knowledge of gas detection and the devices in use is recommended but not required. This course focuses entirely on practical use and daily operation of specific devices. Would you like more theoretical background on gas detection as a field? Then we recommend Module 2. Want to combine theory with hands-on exercises? Choose Module 3.
Content
Step-by-step explanation of the functions and operation of your specific gas detection devices by a certified instructor. We cover daily tasks such as switching on, recognizing calibration notifications, interpreting alarms and responding correctly. We pay attention to common mistakes and pitfalls in use. There is room for questions and personal guidance tailored to the working situation of your employees. The training can take place at your location or at one of our training centers. Certificate of participation included.
2
Basic gas detection training: awareness and theory
Maximum 10 participants
At your location or at one of our own training locations (Capelle aan den IJssel, the Netherlands or Hoogstraten, Belgium)
Certificate included
Prior knowledge and experience
Basic technical knowledge of gas detection is recommended. This course covers technical details and measuring principles. Would you also like to gain hands-on experience? Then we recommend Module 3.
Content
Practical, personal training tailored to your applications. Technical explanation of the measuring principles behind the devices your organization uses, so that employees understand why certain settings, menus and applications matter. Available as individual training or as a classroom session. A combination of theory and hands-on demonstrations. A wireless infrastructure module can be added.
3
Basic gas detection training: theory and practice
Module 3 combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience. Participants learn how gas detection works and, above all, how to apply that knowledge in realistic work situations. This leads to deeper understanding, more confidence in using the equipment and a better grasp of the risks involved in gas measurements and confined space work.
Maximum 10 participants
At your location or at one of our own training locations (Capelle aan den IJssel, the Netherlands or Hoogstraten, Belgium)
Certificate included
Prior knowledge and experience
Basic knowledge of gas detection and the devices in use is recommended. This course focuses on applying gas detection knowledge in realistic work situations. Participants without prior knowledge are advised to take Module 2 first, or to book Modules 2 and 3 combined.
Content
Hands-on training given by a certified instructor with practical experience. Participants work actively with gas detection devices in professional test setups. We cover measurement procedures, interpreting measurement results and recognizing hazardous atmospheres. You gain insight into safe working in confined spaces and applying the correct safety procedures. Short theory sessions alternate with direct practical application. A wireless infrastructure module can be added, matched to your organization’s equipment. Certificate of participation included.
4
Serviceopleiding: Level 1
